You Asked for a Divine Appointment

Our pastor asked us to pray for several weeks for 3 people who may not know Jesus Christ.  I prayed for divine appointments with 3 women in my new community, as well as praying for each of them daily in my prayer language.  I did not really know them, and rarely saw any of them.

One morning, I stepped outside my house to see what the weather was going to be like for the day. I was still in my pajamas and robe, and had not even brushed my hair nor my teeth.     At a distance of 5 houses away, one of the women I’d been praying for, who was walking her dog, waved at me.  I waved back, and then  quickly turned to go into the house before she got too close and saw how I looked.

As I turned to go into my house, I heard these words spoken softly in my spirit:  “You asked for a divine appointment.”  God’s timing is perfect, and I wanted to obey Him.  I had to disregard my soulish nature that was embarrassed at my appearance.  I turned back, and she was walking towards me with a smile on her face.

After some small talk, it turned out that she was in great emotional pain!  She shared that her brother had committed suicide one year ago that day, and it was also the anniversary of when her sister was buried after dying from cancer a few years ago!

I was shocked, since the few times I had seen this woman, she was always smiling and appeared happy and upbeat.  It certainly taught me that “man looks on the outward appearance, but God looks on the heart”, and He certainly knew how this woman’s heart was feeling that day!

My heart went out to her, as I hugged her and comforted her as she cried.  She was very open to me praying for her as well. She shared that she had been saved as a child and went to church then, but had not gone in a very long time.  In the following months, I shared the love of God with her, as well as the Word of God. God is good, and He speaks today!
